By late last year, 2010, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas - the governing body of the Philippine currency have announced the release of the new set of Peso Bills as signed by the President Noynoy. The new set of bills is a complete makeover of the bills that I have grew up with which is in the 80's.
Though officially released and announced, the new bills is not yet commonly seen on transactions. But this April, I got a chance to have pieces of the new 200, 100, 50 and 20 peso bills from my Dad.
The new set of bills portrays the same persons except for the 500 which I don't have. They are the same persons but drawn with their younger version as compared to the old set of bills. Its like if their previous picture was that of their 40s, now they are in their 20s. Not bad of having a younger generation pictures. Also the back ohg the new bills are a complete makeover, where famous Philippine spots and endangered species are pictured.
The new Philippine bills appearance have been endlessly criticized by almost everyone of either being looking like play money or being erroneous on some displayed information, however, I believe the design is already final and in the next 3 yeara they will be fully seen already in our transactions.
