Fishing along the Manila Bay Harbor

I have perceived Manila Bay to be one of the dirtiest body of water here in the Philippines. With its waters having ship's leakages, people's trash, people's dirt, sewerage directed to it, I have never doubted that no single fish would survive living there.

However two weeks ago I was able to get up close to the side walls of the Harbor Square in Roxas Boulevard and was astonished that down below, along those walls were fishermen with fishing lines, very busy fishing. What was more surprising was that they were catching a lot of alive fishes! And I really mean A-L-I-V-E, swimming, gasping for air as they are brought out of the water, being caught with worm baits.

I overheard from one "Manong" that they sure are catching a lot today due to the weather that as he iterated, "Kauulan lang kasi kaya madaming huli ngayon."

So I have been proven wrong, fishes can still survive the mess of Manila Bay and the local hobbyist fishermen are still able to catch them along the icky walls of Manila Bay.
