Iron Man 3: My First Special Screening Invite from Nuffnang

A while ago, I was able to attend my very first Nuffnang organized event which is a co-sponsored special movie screening of the Iron Man 3 movie. I was so happy that I was invited and was able to bring someone to watch the movie for free and at a very convenient time without going on super looooong queues at cinemas. Thank you very much Nuffnang as you have made our night fun (I wasn't expecting the popcorn and drinks too, and we are very happy about it!). Even though I was still a little shy to mingle with the other bloggers, I sure am going to improve maybe on the next events. Hope to attend another event soon! Nytie!

Avatar, A Must Watch Movie

It came so late for me to watch the Avatar movie. Because of the MMFF season, many foreign films showing were delayed for a week or two. Just this Saturday I came to watch Avatar and I was so amazed at the movie that I even don't want the movie to end. I didn't even got bored at any moment.

It is a must-see movie in IMAX or 3D. With all the flying, running and action ahead, it would surely be a true fun experience to watch them on 3D glasses.

As of writing the Avatar is now "No.2 top-grossing movie of all time and still climbing" - according to csmonitor.com. With Titanic at No.1 which is also a James Cameron movie.

I give 5 stars to Avatar, and the idea of watching it again is very possible.

I can't wait for the DVD or Blu-Ray release of this movie. One of the greatest movie of all time indeed.

Twilight Saga's New Moon Trailer

Five months more and we are about to see the sequel to the Twilight movie, New Moon.

Last month the first official posters were released which excites more fans who went craving for more. Now the Twilight Saga's New Moon released its 1st Trailer.



Will the New Moon movie be a Blockbuster or will it be a disappointment? We'll see in November 2009.

Terminator Salvation

The 2009's Terminator movie release debut on May 21st in the Philippines. Got time to watch the movie last Friday at Eastwood Cinemas.

Two weeks straight that I'm seeing science-fiction movies. Now it's Terminator Salvation's turn.

The movie as far as I know focused more on Sam Worthington's role rather than that of Christian Bales'. John Connor might be the protagonist, but I think that Marcus Wright had all the exposure here.

I can no longer remember the other Terminator movies, I was a kid then - I think. If you were to watch the movie without knowing its previous releases, you might get confused. Like who on earth is Kyle Reese - now I found out that he was the protagonist from the original 1984 film (I wasn't born yet.)

The introduction of the wildly angled camera shots was good but not great. It was new but the effects and the relevance of the shots were not too fulfilling.

For Terminator Salvation - I give you 3.0 stars. :)

Star Trek

Watched Star Trek last weekend at Eastwood Cinemas.

I wasn't a fan at all of Star Trek when I was a kid. But I remembered seeing some episodes in the 90s in Channel 9, if I'm not mistaken. I wasn't fond of the spaceships, outer space and the geeky creatures that I remember seeing in one of the TV Episodes. Well I was a kid then, and I matured.

As I saw the Star Trek Movie by J. J. Abrams and I enjoyed it. I wasn't familiar with the scenarios and the characters but I was entertained by the plot of the story. It was not too scientific and it remained entertaining. I think that putting Chris Pine(James T. Kirk) as one of the main characters set the movie well.


I liked the portrayal of each of the crew's role in the USS Enterprise. Putting an Asian-American character John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Russian character Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov personalities in the ship made it a versatile one - and funnier. Funnier in the sense that though they have vital roles in the ship, they didn't remain nerdy. They all still have the "coolness" of what a normal person would have. Though I'm not into the Spock and Nyota Uhura relationship. I think that it's an effort to display Spock's human feelings but I don't think it matched.

After all of the good script, plot and character representation, I still have my criticism on the entire story of having something in the future come to the present which makes the present the past. Got it? I don't either. That's why I kept asking questions after the movie. hehehe. But it was cleared to me now. It dwelt on me later. Oh well, don't forget to watch Star Trek - "Live long and prosper." (with matching hand gestures that I cannot do. hehehe)

For Star Trek, I give you 4 stars! :D

Angels and Demons

At last! Angels and Demons! I give this movie four stars. For the reason that the excitement was not fully portrayed in the story as how the book does. Oh well, I don't know in the views of those who haven't read Dan Brown's book but for me it lacks a little more gist when they are in the searching scenarios. Most significant scenes were on the short-cut mode and the explaining of the symbols, histories and structures were sometimes over-explained but still confusing.

The conflict of Science and Religion which was the book's original plot was lacking. The Lab scenes are very short but well it's a movie, what more can you ask for?

All in all it was still a must-watch. The investigative and clue searching was still there. As a book, I love Angels and Demons more than The Da Vinci Code. As a movie, it's the other way around, I love The Da Vinci Code more than Angels and Demons.

I was able to watch it yesterday at its last full show schedule at Eastwood Cinemas. We were there by 6pm, but the reserved seating (well as expected) was already full. Of all the 5 cinemas in Eastwood, most were already full for the 8pm schedule just by 6pm. So we got the 11:20pm schedule.

Oh well, at least I already got the first weekend to see the movie. I still prefer the book though. If you still haven't read it after the movie to avoid disappointments. - That's my personal view though.
